Five Steps Towards Peaceful Living

April 28, 2013

Our mission at Peaceful Mind Peaceful Life is to promote peaceful living. In theory, this sounds like a really nice idea, but in reality what does this really mean? We live in a world that is not always conducive to peaceful living. Violence, anger, resentment, and guilt are often at the core of our actions, and for many people, this has become the norm. Society can dictate to us that we have to be hyperactive, emotionless beings in order to succeed in life, and we often forget about the peaceful, loving components in our lives that really matter. Fortunately, the first step towards a more peaceful existence is simply being aware of the change you want to create. When we are conscious and present to how we’d like to be, that is when we are able to truly manifest our ideals. Take a look at these five steps towards peaceful living and notice what you can incorporate for your well-being and for the peace and happiness of those around you.

1. Introspection. Going inward is the true way to promote outer peace. Meditation and being in alignment with one’s true self will build a solid foundation for peacefulness in your life. Sit in silence and breathe and notice what you become aware of. Your inner voice will guide you in your life. Take some time for journaling to really understand the peaceful life you are meant to be living.

2. Compassion. There can be no peace without a deep level of compassion for all beings. Note the difference between being compassionate and taking pity. Feeling compassion means you have an understanding for others, and wish suffering to no being.

3. Forgiveness. Holding anger and resentment towards those who have hurt you will only lead to more heartache. Strive to forgive and let go. Everything in life comes to us as some lesson to be learned. Be open to new possibilities.

4. Kindness. Being loving and kind to all beings is a sure way towards a more peaceful world. The golden rule certainly is so prominent for a reason. Treat others as you would like to be treated. What you put out in the world, you will receive in your own life. Be the change.

5. Acceptance. Allow what is in this moment. Consistently wishing that your life was different in some way promotes unease and distress. Be willing to see the lessons of your life in the now, and not focus on the “what if’s.”

What steps do you think you could take to have a more peaceful way of life? Is there something you have been working on lately? Let us know!
